Simba's Story

Simba came into my life in around March 2023 when I kept finding him in our garden. He was an abandoned cat, his previous owners lived on our street and had left him behind when they moved away. I became worried that no one was feeding him so I began to look after him myself. At first he was very frightened and wouldn’t come near me, I had to put down his food and stand back before he would eat it. After a few weeks I was finally able to pet his head a little. Then one day he seemed to decide to trust me and became extremely friendly and affectionate. He began to enjoy having a fuss made of him and also became much more vocal meowing and purring where as before he was mostly silent.

My family and I sought help from a local animal charity due to concerns about his health and wellbeing. Thankfully they were able to take him in to rectify some of his health issues as well as vaccinations and neutering. Unfortunately I doubt his previous owners had ever taken him to the vet and had not had him neutered. They also supported us through the adoption process and advised us about helping Simba to settle into home life after having spent so much time living permanently outside. We brought him home on 20th December 2023 for fostering (just in time for Christmas!). We were surprised at how well he adapted to living indoors! We officially adopted Simba on 31st January 2024. He is such a sweet and affectionate boy who loves having a fuss made of him and cuddles on my lap! He also enjoys spending time in our garden and naps on his cushion as you can see in the pictures below! I am so grateful he came into my life!
