Site History

My first experience of HTML was copying and pasting codes for use on Neopets and later on MySpace. I was then introduced to Piczo by a friend where I created a number of different sites including a Hello Kitty fan site! My most successful was a graphics site, where I shared graphics for other people to decorate their own sites with. At first I mainly posted graphics made by others but eventually began to make graphics of my own. I wish I had kept some of my old blends but sadly they have been lost to time!

Piczo mainly used drag and drop as method of website construction but you could also incorporate HTML codes. Eventually I decided I wanted more of a challenge and moved onto FreeWebs where I used tutorials from other sites to learn to code my own layout. At some point I must have tried making pixels of my own. The embarrassingly bad examples below are some of the few creations I have left from these old days.

In May 2012 I started a pixel Tumblr blog called Pixel-world. I coded my own theme and posted kawaii pixels from Japanese blogs. I posted regularly from 2012 until 2016 where I took a long hiatus! At the end of 2022 I randomly decided to log back into my account. I was surprised to find that many people were still actively following and using my blog. I fixed my theme code and began posting again mainly from drafts I had previously saved.

It was on Tumblr that I first heard of Neocities, I realised that I missed the old days of creating my own websites and decided to make an account. SakuraDreams was created on the 9th April 2023. SakuraDreams is very much a work in progress and I still have a lot of learning/relearning to do when it comes to coding!

Thank you for reading!
